Filary, Donald V. Bay City, Michigan

Donald V. Filary, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region with his family by his side, age 78. The son of the late John & Celia (Bajer) Filary, he was born September 12, 1934 in Bay City. Donald served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was a retired landscaper.

On May 11, 1957 Donald married the former Patricia A. Briggs and she survives him along with their four children, Lisa Katherine Filary of St. Clair Shores, Cheryl (Dick) Voisine of Bay City, Jeffery (Michele) Filary of Linwood and Steven (Julie) Filary of Grand Blanc; six grandchildren, Nick (Amelia) Filary, Jennifer Filary and her fiancée, Jon Loop, Joshua and Jacob Voisine, Dan and Mark Leshock; three great-grandchildren, Nick, Jr., Sophia and Ziyah Filary; two sisters, Beatrice (Mike) Chesney and Joan (Kenneth) Bown; a brother, Ralph (Jean) Filary; a sister-in-law, Alice Briggs; three brothers-in-law, Tim (Bonnie) Briggs, Richard Briggs and Eugene Briggs; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Donald was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Filary; a sister-in-law, Emily Filary; and a brother-in-law, Michael Briggs. The family would like to sincerely Thank the staff at Bay Shores Nursing Home for the care given to Donald.

Thanks for all the happy memories, the harmonica, the fishing, the gardening, and all the fun times. Heaven is truly a happier place with you!!
