Vivian J. Legner

Vivian J. Legner went to be with her Lord in Heaven on Saturday, March 2, 2013. She passed away peacefully at home, age 85 years. She was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 7, 1927. The daughter of the late Carl and Ethel (Clay) Smith grew up in Saginaw, Michigan. She attended Arthur Hill High School and later was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone Company, Saginaw and Bay County Soil Conservation Service in Bay City.

On September 6, 1947, she married Carl Legner. They enjoyed traveling and vacationed in Hawaii several times and later resided in Florida during the winter months. She was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church. Vivian was an excellent cook, enjoyed playing cards and loved animals, especially her dog, Max. She also enjoyed decorative painting and was well known for her hand painted wedding plaques.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Carl Legner, children; Alan (Carol), Bay City, Diane, Bay City; sister Geraldine King, Saginaw; brother William (Shirley) Smith, Mt. Morris; many nieces and nephews and grand-dog Charlie. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Karl and Wanda Legner; brother Sonny Boy; sister Alice Kellogg; brothers-in-law Ed Kellogg and Burtcel King. A special thank you to McLaren Hospice team, and special caregivers Brenda and Lynann for the compassion and support they gave to Vivian.
