Ari Robert Golden, 46, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015, surrounded by his family.
Ari was born May 3, 1969 in Bay City, MI. He attended Temple Israel in Bay City and graduated from Bay City Central High School before enlisting in the United States Army. Sergeant First Class (SFC) Ari R. Golden joined the Active Duty Army in 1987, serving as an attack helicopter repairman while stationed in Germany. In 1991, he transferred to the Michigan National Guard serving in various 3-238th Aviation Units at the Grand Ledge Aviation Facility as a full time maintenance technician. In 2007 he served with the 147th Aviation as an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor, Readiness NCO and Platoon Sergeant. In 2012, he transferred to the Recruiting and Retention Command serving as a Senior Unit Administrative NCO for the Recruit Sustainment Program. During his career, SFC Golden had multiple overseas deployments - Germany, Kosovo, and Iraq - where he earned his Combat Action Badge. He has received multiple awards and decorations in his successful military career spanning over 28 years.
Ari served as Captain of the Clinton Area Fire and Rescue, was a certified EMT, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and biking - anything that let him be outdoors. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother.
Ari was preceded in death by his first wife, Kari B. Golden, and his grandparents, Robert and Bertha Golden of Bay City, MI and formerly of New York City, and Elizabeth and Joseph Soehnel of Gladwin, MI.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Traci L. Golden; his children, Neve, Ian, and Evan Golden; his granddaughter, Kinzley; his father, Alan (Rosemary) Golden; his mother, June Soehnel; his brother, Avram S. Golden; his sister, Shoshanaw R. Daniels; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family would especially like to thank Sparrow Health Systems, the United States Army, the Clinton Area Fire and Rescue, and Ari's dear friends, Chris and Candi Cabral, Jessica Bayer, and The Corp family for their support and kindness.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 10:00am at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm and again from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the funeral home.
