Beloved mother, grandma, Gigi, great and great-great grandma passed away peacefully at Symphony of Tri-Cities on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. Arliss was born in Bay City, Michigan on January 7th 1930 to John and Christina (Appold) Behmlander.
On November 4th 1950 she married the love of her life, Otto Arnold. This was a beginning of a lifelong partnership, built on love, devotion and family. Together they created a home filled with laughter, support and family traditions. She treasured her time with family and was happiest when everyone was gathered together and cooking for them.
She enjoyed doing crafts, especially making “scrubbies” and loved going to the U.P., especially the “Soo” where her and Otto would watch the freighters.
Arliss was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bay City. She enjoyed working in Church, helping with the luncheons, cleaning, etc., when she was able to. She also enjoyed working at the economy center.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Debra) Arnold, Dorothy (Steve) Dedyne, Krescentia Arnold and Jane (Patrick) O’Hara; nine grandchildren, Rob Arnold, Wendy (Tim) Vance, Heidi (Richard) Burr, Steve (Katie) Dedyne, Dennis (Kim) Dedyne, Jim Jr. (Vera) Arnold, Matthew (Jessica) Arnold, Laura (Jesse) Dockett and Pat Jr. (Carrie) O’Hara; 14 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers, and a sister-in-law, Charles (Sandra) Behmlander and Art Behmlander – she also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and special God children.
In addition to her parents, Arliss was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otto Arnold; son, James Arnold, sister, Norma (Wilmar) Weiss; sister-in-law, Myrtle Behmlander and brother-in-law, Walter (Edna) Arnold.
Arliss’ family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Symphony of Tri-Cities for the special care they received.
