Armand S. Hayes

Armand S Hayes passed away peacefully, on June 15, 2026, surrounded by all his loved ones. Born on March 18, 2009, in Dayton, OH, and later moved to Auburn, MI, where Armand was raised by his mother, Lindy Sutton, and step-dad, Ben Coppinger. Armand also had a loving relationship with his father, Tim Hayes. Armand was a bright light whose life touched countless hearts.

At the age of 2, Armand was diagnosed with Type 2 GM1 gangliosidosis. GM1 gangliosidosis is a rare disorder that progressively destroys nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Despite being diagnosed with GM1, Armand faced each day with remarkable courage and strength. Alongside his family, he became part of the community united by hope and the pursuit of a cure for GM1. Through participation in clinical trials in Minnesota and ongoing research efforts, Armand played a meaningful role in advancing the understanding of GM1 and his legacy will live on in the progress made toward helping future generations affected by this rare disease.

Armand had a special love for the water and enjoyed time spent in his swimming pool and hot tub. He also enjoyed going to the movies and listening to music.

He is survived by his Mom, Lindy Sutton, Step-Dad, Ben Coppinger, Dad, Tim Hayes, his Nana, Sheri Sutton, his Nana & Pup, Bev & Russ LaForest, and his Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his papa, Richard Kim Sutton, and Grandpa, Jim Hayes and his grandma, Judy Hayes.

Armand’s journey was far too short, but he inspired many with his strength, resilience, and beautiful spirit. Armand taught all who had the privilege of knowing him the true meaning of perseverance, unconditional love, and finding happiness in life’s simplest moments.
