Art passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the age of 84. He was born on December 31, 1937 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Ernest and Anna (Dale) Trombley. After graduating from Visitation High School, he received a bachelor's degree from the University of Detroit and a master's degree from Central Michigan University. Art was lettered in football, baseball and basketball and was inducted into the Bay County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and was stationed in West Germany. He retired from the Bay Arenac ISD Adult Education program as the Head Administrator. Art was a very devout Catholic. He played scrabble every day, loved reading, including the daily newspaper, and watching the Detroit Lions especially on Thanksgiving Day. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors, particularly his walks that he took nearly every day.
Art is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Joan (McFarland) Trombley; sister, Jeanenne Arnold; nieces and nephews, Lisa Ann Muniz, Shelly Quick, Patrick A. Trombley, Traci Carulli, Aimmi Straight and many others on Joan's side of the family, as well great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Ann (Rex) Stein, Mary (Ray) Graveline and Janet (Duane) Hamling; brothers-in-law, William Wittbrodt, Patrick Hughes, Jerome McFarland, Paul (Lynn) McFarland and George (Cathy) McFarland. In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his brother, J. Patrick Trombley; sisters-in-law, Kay Wittbrodt and Dolores Hughes and brother-in-law, Jim McFarland.
A graveside service will take place Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery conducted by Rev. Fr. Richard Filary with Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council and the United States Air Force. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or by having masses offered for Art.
