Audrey I. Schmidt

Audrey passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at her residence with her family by her side at the age of 92 years. She was born in Bay City on January 23, 1930, to the late Thomas and Margaret (Ryers) Morris. Audrey married Edward Schmidt on November 29, 1952, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2016, after 62 years of marriage. Together Audrey and Edward were longtime members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Audrey was always hard at work on the family farm and was well known as the "berry lady" to all that would pick berries on her farm.
Audrey is survived by her son, Matthew C. (Diana) Schmidt; daughter, Patricia (Gregory) Kochom; grandchildren, Candice (Steven) Scott, Kyle Kochom and Connor (Kayla) Kochom; great grandchildren, Nineveh, Xara and Wolf Scott and Brantley Rhett Kochom; sister, Carol Thomas and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Gloria Dei Ev. Lutheran Church, 5250 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, Michigan. Officiating will be Pastor Jacob Kempfert with entombment in Chapel Hill Mausoleum. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Schmidt will be taken to the church to lie in state on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
