Avis Rose Brown

Mrs. Avis Rose Brown, of Bay City, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Thursday evening, September 1, 2016 at Stonecrest Assisted Living in Freeland, age 80. She loved God, family, people, music and life. Avis Rose was born December 23, 1935 and grew up in Bay City where she met her husband, Jim. Avis Paine and James Brown were married October 9, 1953. They lived in Essexville, Midland, Granville, OH, Connecticut, New Bern, NC, Bay City and Florida. Avis worked for several years as secretary for the First Baptist Church in Midland. She held numerous volunteer positions and sang in church choirs. Avis was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Bay City. She was talented in craft work and especially accomplished in counted cross stitch. She was intelligent and full of love and laughter. Avis and Jim enjoyed traveling and spending time with numerous friends.
Avis leaves behind her much loved husband, Jim; daughters, Avis Ann (James) Bennett of Gladwin, Debra Joan Fallen of Gainsville, GA and Carrie Lee Brown of Manistee, MI; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Joan (Morris) Brashaw of Bay City.
Avis Rose will be missed, her memory cherished. Her beautiful voice is singing in Heaven. We Love You.
A Memorial Service will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church, 4267 S. Two Mile Rd., Bay City, MI 48706. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Temple. Final interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Music.
