Barbara A. Tobin

Mrs. Tobin passed away peacefully Saturday, January 14, 2023 at home with her family by her side at the age of 91. The daughter of the late Frank and Norine (Furtaw) Helber graduated from Bay City Central in 1949. Barbara was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and a lifetime resident of Bay City of which she truly adored and always claimed "she could never live anywhere else". Barbara was a member of Corpus Christi Parish (Holy Trinity) choir for many years where she made countless friendships prior to returning to the St. Mary's parish where she attended school in her youth. Barbara enjoyed art and created wonderful pencil sketches that she shared with her family. Her artistry also showed in her magnificent flower gardens. In fact, The Bay City in Bloom committee awarded Barbara the Recognition Award three times over the years. She also took great pride in keeping an immaculate home. She cared deeply for all her family and enjoyed spending time with them and was very proud of the Tobin family. She also had a love for all animals. Barbara will be remembered for her elegant appearance and graceful demeanor.
In 1951, she married her husband, the late Patrick Tobin. They enjoyed 63 years together. Mrs. Tobin is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Kelly and Sue Tobin of Lansing, Kent and Sharon Tobin of Grand Haven and Brian and Debbie Tobin of Bay City; eight grandchildren, Brad Tobin, Sara Tobin, Hilary Tobin, Kurt (Megan) Tobin, David (Becca) Tobin, Ryan Tobin (Anna Plumley), Kaitlyn Tobin (Chad Sumsion) and Kristen Tobin (Maxwell Landry); six great grandchildren, Liv, Isla, Elizabeth, Patrick, Margaret and Anne; one brother, Danny (Linda) Helber. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her two sisters, Faye Helber and Connie Horner (Helber) and one brother, Norman Helber (Mary).
