Bernice Lucille Baran, 106 years old of Bay City, was called by the Lord to join Him in His Heavenly Home on Saturday evening, December 24, 2016. The last of her generation, she was born in Bay City to the late Ludwig and Mary (Strzelczyk) Koscielski immigrants from Poland on July 13, 1910. She married Leon Baran on August 17, 1935 and he preceded her in death on September 30, 1970. She was a life time member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church. She was a member of the League of Catholic Women and Men, the Felician Sisters Auxiliary, Rosary Society, Group #41, St. Stan's Retirees and Chevrolet Local # 362 retirees. She is survived by her children, Corinne (Jerry) Abel; Audrey (Robert) Landowski and Paul (Paula) Baran; her grandchildren, Daniel (Audrey) Abel, Robert (Carla) Abel, Karen (Jerry) Milatz, Maureen (David) Walczyk, Brian (Lianne) Abel, Brian Landowski , Cherie Landowski, Mark Landowski, Christa Landowski, Dr. Jeremy (Michele) Baran, Dr. Benjamin (Dr. Lindsay) Baran and Elizabeth Baran; her great grandchildren, Benjamin Abel, Thomas Abel, Elizabeth Abel, Sara Abel, David Walczyk, Jordan Walczyk, Braeson Abel, Hadley Abel, Oliver Abel, Aimee Landowski, Adelaide Baran, Damien Baran, Vincent Baran, Cecilia Baran, Hannah Baran and Madeliene Baran. In addition to her parent she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Minnie (Joseph) Jaremba, Theresa (George) Mix, Regina (Frank) Pietrczak, Mary (Frank) Stema, Orian (William) McLean, Helen (Arthur) Sniecinski,Julianna Koscielski , Stephen (Blanche)Koscielski , Ollie Colter, William Colter,Chester (Monica) Koscielski, Constance (Stanley) Pietrczak and Joseph (Helen) Colter; sisters-in-law, Amelia (John) Spica, Gertrude (John) Krzewinski, Angeline(Alex)Luczak, Delphine (Stanley) Kolat, Theresa (Frank) Malinowski. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Caretel Inns of the Tri-Cities for their loving care given to Bernice over the last three years. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Richard M. Filary with the Rite of Committal following in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive family and friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Bernice will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
