Betty A. Hetherington (VanOchten)

Betty passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021 at her home with her family by her side at the age of 74. She was born on April 7, 1947 in Pinconning, Michigan to the late Bernard and Marion (Badour) VanOchten. Betty was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Parish. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, car shows, fairs, races especially NASCAR, making cards and an array of other crafts, farming and Betty had mastered the computer.
Betty is survived by her husband of 16 years, Robert E. Hetherington who she married on July 16, 2004; six siblings, Janet (Clyde) Budd of Bay City, Jane Soldan of Midland, Linda (Robert) Klimmek of Bay City, Lois (Mike) Mckee of Linwood, James (Carol) VanOchten of Bay City and Brenda (Matt) Bissonnette of Bay City; goddaughter, Jennifer Lucke of Colorado; sister-in-law, Kris (Robert) Barcia; brother-in-law, Dan Lucke; step daughter Stacie (Mike) Becker of Florida; special grandson, Max; step-son, Nic  (Sarah) Hetherington and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Betty is preceded in death by her sister, Judy Lucke of Colorado; brother, David VanOchten of Ohio and brother-in-law, Robert Soldan.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cassie and Alyssa of Compassus Hospice and to Chaplain Cathy for the fantastic care they provided for Betty.
Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Gabriel Parish - East Campus St. Joseph's 84 W. Midland Rd., Auburn, MI. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Thomas E. Sutton with the Rite of Committal following in St. Anne's Cemetery. The family will be present at the church on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 to receive family and friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Cindy Sobel Animal Rehab (3424 Golfview Dr. Bay City, Michigan 48706) and to the Salvation Army.
