Betty Jane Perry, age 96 years, passed away peacefully from this life to the next in the afternoon on Sunday, the 30th of November 2025 surrounded by her family. Betty was born and raised in Bay City Michigan where she met and married Raymond Perry. The couple spent nearly sixty years together until Raymond’s passing in 2010.
Betty was a jigsaw puzzle aficionado, read stacks of romance novels, canned vegetables from the family’s massive garden, and knit beautifully crafted Afghan blankets that have become treasured family heirlooms. Betty also enjoyed playing cribbage and cards with family and was thrilled when she would win, which was often. She will be especially remembered for her delicious downhome cooking and holiday feasts which included her legendary meatballs, tender yellow beans smothered in butter, yum-yum cake, and Twister cookies lovingly prepared with generous hands. After the meal, all leftovers made their way into an assortment of empty Cool Whip, cottage cheese, and sour cream containers for the family to take home.
Betty is survived by her four children: Diane Hoernlein (Robert), David Perry (Gretchen), Darryl Perry (Marce), Nancy Beyett (Robert), ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brother-in-law Bill Dean, and close family friends, Janice and Bill Plant.
Her family would like to extend its gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at The Meadows on McCarty Assisted Living (Formerly known as Brookdale) of Saginaw where Betty happily called “home” for the past three years.
Betty’s immediate family will honor and celebrate her life in a private gathering. Anyone wishing an expression of sympathy may consider a charity of their choice, or Bay City Public Libraries.
