Mrs. Cavanaugh passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 at McLaren Bay Special Care Hospital. Age 85 years. The daughter of the late Joseph and Lucille (Vance) Doan was born February 22, 1931 in Asheville, North Carolina. Mrs. Cavanaugh was a member of Corpus Christi Parish. She was an avid reader being one of the longest card holders to the Sage Branch Library, she enjoyed going to the casino and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children; Bonnie (David) Bourdon, Richard A. (his fiancée; Donna Culler) Cavanaugh, Kitty K. (her special friend, Denny Sampson) Cull, Jack (his fiancée; Dianne Davidson) Cavanaugh all of Bay City, Mary (James) Mahoney of Texas and Don (Constance) Cavanaugh of Bay City, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Dorothy Jonas, David (Marylou) Doan, George (Jean) Doan, Robert (Penny) Doan and Laura Adams; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles John Cavanaugh Jr. and three sisters, Ardith Kaunitz, Ruth Gorney and Dianna Doan. The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will be celebrated Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish - Holy Trinity Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Emmitt L. Marceau with private inurnment in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Cavanaugh will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial Cards for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital will be available at the funeral home.
