Betty Jane (Tuttle) Bishop

Betty passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Close to Home Assisted Living of Covid 19 at the age of 101. Betty was born February 19, 1922 in Bay City, Michigan. On May 2, 1946, she married the love of her life, the late Earl Ray Bishop. She was a member of Grace Methodist Church, East Campus, she loved early mornings and got up before the sunrise to read her Bible. Her strong faith in God sustained her through many heartbreaks and losses of beloved family members. She enjoyed visiting with people, singing, playing the piano, cooking, baking and working in her yard and garden. Most of all Betty loved spending time with her family; we were so blessed to have her all of these years. She was a loving and cheerful person with a happy smile.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Patricia Swenski; grandson, Jon Schmidt (Julie Medina); sister-in-law, Irene Bishop and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bishop; two daughters, Kathleen Bishop and Barbara Schmidt; mother and father, Bert and Mabel (Gower) Tuttle; son-in-law, Anthony Swenski; two brothers, Clifford and Owen Tuttle; six sisters, Cleta Wylie, Clara Hill, Lillian Basselman, June Nick, Caroline Ray and Adeline Kenney and many nieces and nephews.

In honoring the wishes of Betty, cremation has taken place and no services are being planned at this time. Those planning and expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to The Salvation Army (401 Tenth Street, Bay City, Michigan 48708) or the non-profit animal rescue, Shelter Angels, Inc.
