Beverly Morgan Rector

Beverly Lenore (Morgan) Rector, passed peacefully from this earth Wednesday, February 11, 2026. She was at home, surrounded by her family’s love and care when she was welcomed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Beverly was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1932 to Walter Lewis Morgan and Eleanor H. (Johnson) Morgan, and enjoyed a childhood full of family gatherings, dance recitals, and singing in the choir and glee club. Beverly graduated from East Haven Connecticut High School in 1950 before visiting with friends at their summer home on Indian Lake. There she met a handsome Michigan boy by the name of Homer L. “Buck” Rector, Jr., who was visiting family. A well-placed sandy beachball tossed into the middle of “Buck’s” back while sunning, sparked what would turn into their marriage in 1954. Homer served in the Air Force, which took them to Wichita, Kansas to start their life together. Upon his discharge, they returned to Michigan to begin their family. Beverly became a beloved mother of 4 children but endured the pain of losing one daughter (aged 19) which left a void in the hearts of her family. She worked as a bookkeeper and wrote and edited for a local newspaper while raising their children. Upon retirement, she and Homer owned and operated the Quarterdeck Motel in Mackinaw City.

Her commitment to her faith and to God was a constant in her life. She was a charter member of Kirkridge Presbyterian Church in Grand Blanc, MI, she served as secretary to 2 of her church pastors, and also served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church. She leaves as a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Bay City. Bev took special joy in singing in choir and attending concerts and theater productions, including those her talented family members were a part of. Reading was her favorite pastime, often consuming several books per week. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling and made many fond memories while gathering with friends, church members and, most of all, her extended family. As the matriarch, she committed to keeping our extended family close as she and her generation had modeled for us. She charged her family to continue this tradition after her passing as her legacy.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband and partner, Homer L. “Buck” Rector, her daughter Lynda S. Rector and her sister, Marilyn Felsted. She is survived by her children, Mark (Elaine) Rector of Bay City, Scott (Leslie) Rector of Midland, and Sherry (Tim) Holley of Bay City. She leaves her grandchildren, Daniel (Katie) Rector, Morgan (Ross) Varadi, Rhianna Holley, and Thor Russell. She was honored to be a great grandma (GiGi) to Luke, Lauren, Anna, Ivy, James, Karleigh and Rayce.
