Buddy passed away peacefully on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Stone Crest Assisted Living at the age of 84. Buddy was born on September 19, 1936 to the late John and Molly (Marker) York in Unionville, Michigan.
Buddy retired from Dow Chemical after working there for 30 years as an instrument technician. After his retirement, Buddy and his wife owned and operated The Tiz-It Bar in Midland, Michigan for 20 years where they enjoyed many social activities. Buddy also loved to cook at the Tiz-It and was known for his famous "Tiz-It Burgers". Buddy loved to sing and play his guitar so much so that he went to Nashville and recorded several records. In his spare time, Buddy also loved gardening, sailing, woodworking, and being outdoors.
Buddy is survived by his wife, Rose York, whom he married on June 16, 1994 and they spent 35 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his Children, Barbara Ann York, Susan Kay Thomas and her fiancé, James Nielsen and Kathryn Elizabeth (Michael) Charbonneau; Step-Children, Ann (Roger) Terry, Beth Budinski and her fiancé Patrick and Mark (Jamie) Brock; a sister, Bonnie (Jerry) Micho; 21 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son David York and his brother John York Jr.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 10th at 2:00 pm at Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Don Killey. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Saturday, April 10th from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. We are currently still under the governor's executive order of social distancing and limited to 25 visitors in the chapel at one time. You may experience a wait while paying your respects and face coverings must be worn. Donations may be made to The Care Team Michigan - Hospice Care and the Parkinson's Foundation.
