Carolyn Kay Douglas

Carolyn Kay Douglas, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at New Hope Bay Assisted Living, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 17, 1946, in Goodrich, Michigan, Carolyn lived a life devoted to her family, her faith, and her pursuits.

She was a graduate of Harrison High School and furthered her education at Ferris State College. Carolyn contributed her talents in Church Administration as she worked at Broadway Baptist Church, West Baptist Church, and First United Methodist Church, where she made an indelible impact on the communities she served.

Carolyn had a passion for genealogy, photography, and traveling, which enriched her life with memorable experiences. She loved walking and cherished every moment spent with her family, who meant the world to her.

Carolyn cherished nothing more than quality time with her family. As a mother, she was a guiding light to her three children: Christine (Jeremy) Jacobs, Matthew (Naomi) Douglas, and Brian (AmyLou) Douglas. Generational bonds flourished under her nurturing presence, as she adored her twelve grandchildren—Jennifer, Sara, Kendra, Emily, Taylor, Payten (Connor), Connor, Easton, Zepherence (Isabelle), Seth, Hayden, Brendon, Lewis —and found profound joy in the laughter of her five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Andrew, Cameron, Antonio, and Aiden; step children, Cathy (Jim), Dewey (Suzanne), and Larry (Sheryl). step grandchildren, Chase, Cailyn, Samantha, Dewey Jr., Chloe, and Matthew. The warmth of family gatherings echoed with her love and laughter, weaving memories that will forever be treasure troves in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

She is survived by her dear sister, Linda (Blaine) Brooks, and her brother, Michael (Janet) Downing, who stood by her side through the chapters of life; they will now carry forth her legacy of love and kindness. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and June (Dalby) Downing, as well as her husband Dennis Douglas, who departed from this world in 1996, and her husband, Donald Rapson.

Carolyn Kay Douglas leaves behind a profound impact on all who knew her. Her life's canvas, painted with love, laughter, and an enduring pursuit of knowledge, reminds us to hold our loved ones close and embrace every moment with gratitude. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we find solace in the memories she cultivated and the hearts she intertwined with her boundless spirit.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses at Transitions Hospice for the outstanding care they provided Carolyn.
