Charles J. Horen Sr.

Charles passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Saginaw Senior Care and Rehab at the age of 92 years. Charles was born in Bay City on July 11, 1926 to the late William and Jennie (Knapp) Horen. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He married the former Elizabeth Toms on August 16, 1947 and she preceded him in death on May 13, 2013. Charles was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church where he was active as an usher. He worked in sales at Bishop Young Furniture store for twenty five years.

Charles is survived by his children, Shirley (Les) Bauer, Charles Jr. (Pam) Horen, Dorothy (Michael Johnroe) Soto and Sandra Horen; grandchildren, Tammy Bauer, Jeff (Lacy) Bauer, Amy (Trinidad) Castro, Charlie Horen III, Kristy Johnroe and Shane (Tracy) Johnroe; great grandchildren, Joshawa, Gabbrellia, Jeremy, Tony, Savannah, Dylan, Evelyn and Jacen; great great grandchildren, Brayden, Delilah and Zander; sister, Lillian "Bobbie" Fetter. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by brother, William Horen and sister, Dorothy Phillips.

Funeral and Committal service will take place Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church. Officiating will be Rev. Nancy Mayhew with private interment following in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Horen will be taken to the church to lie in state on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
