Connie Rodriguez, 90, was called home to our heavenly father on Friday, October 2nd. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and listening to her favorite music. She was born in Kawkawlin, Michigan on December 8, 1935 to the late Harvey and Elizabeth (Chosay) Dixon. She retired from Delta College where she worked as a library purchasing clerk. She was united in marriage to Jesse Rodriguez on June 7, 1969 at the Kawkawlin Community Church in Kawkawlin, Michigan. Connie enjoyed reading, traveling, the arts, cooking (she baked a mean apple & pumpkin pie) and knitting, even knitting afghans well into her late 80’s.
Left behind to cherish Connie’s memory are her Step-Sons Sam Rodriguez, Dan (Deb) Rodriguez, her Step-Daughter Dinah (John) Katt, her Grandsons Daniel, Jesse (Katie), Jacob (Caitlyn) Rodriguez, her Granddaughters Rebecca Rodriguez, Samantha (Cody) Box, her Granddaughter’s mother Kimberly (Ken) Garris, great-grandchildren Ashtyn, Mackenzie, and Lacy Rodriguez, her niece Cozette (LN) Smith, and nephew Dion (Shelly) Dixon. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jesse, her grandson Adam Rodriguez, her brother Hawley Dixon, sister-in-law Dorothy Dixon, and step-daughter Nanette Rodriguez.
Visitation will take place from 10 AM to 12 noon on Tuesday, October 13, at Gephart’s Funeral Home, with service to follow at noon. Officiating will be Pastor Sue Nykamp. Private interment will follow at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Delta College Scholarship fund, Paws With a Cause, the Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank The Willows Assisted Living and Memory Care (formerly Brookdale) staff and Americans Home Health & Hospice for all the loving care and devotion they showed Connie over the last 3 ½ years.
Connie will be remembered for her love, wisdom, strength, and support to all that knew her and shared special moments with her.
