Mrs. Crabtree passed away peacefully on Sunday May 16, 2010 at her residence after a courageous four year battle with adrenal cancer, age 51. She was born July 2, 1958 in Bay City. Cynthia was a devoted member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. She worked at Sears in Bay City for over four years and then became the secretary at St. John's Church to which she dedicated herself wholeheartedly. Cynthia enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping and traveling. She loved intellectual challenges and problem solving and enjoyed traveling to historical sites and museums. Mrs. Crabtree is survived by her beloved husband of 28 years, Jeff Crabtree. Just as she did with her work at church, Cynthia carried the same Christian philosophy with raising her family, her four children, Greg Crabtree of Midland, Matt (Raha) Crabtree of Allentown, PA, Stephanie Crabtree of Bay City and Sarah (Ryan) Absher of Ft. Stewart, GA. Cynthia is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth Streu of Bay City; her father and mother-in-law, Frank & Pauline Crabtree of Kawkawlin; and two brothers-in-law, Scott (Darlene Baker) Crabtree of Bay City and their son, Dalton, and Brian (Sandy) Crabtree of Kent City. Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Streu in 2000. The funeral service will take place at 11:00am on Wednesday May 19, 2010 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 706 W. Jane St. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schweppe & Rev. Paul E. Schaewe. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1:00 to 9:00pm. Mrs. Crabtree will lie instate at the church on Wednesday from 10:00am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, it was strongly suggested by Cynthia that memorial contributions may be directed to The University of Michigan Adrenal Cancer Program or St. John Ev. Lutheran Church.
