Dennis K. Nowak "Denny" Bay City, Michigan Our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully early Saturday morning October 3, 2015 at his residence. Age 73 years. The son of the late Adolph J. and Catherine E. (Friend) Nowak was born September 2, 1942 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Denny graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1960 and then went on to attend college for a few years. He started his career as a patrolman where he proudly served and protected his community with the Bay City Police Department and retired several years later as an administrator for the department. He was also a member of F.O. P. 103 Bay City Lodge. Denny enjoyed the time he spent with his many friends and most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his wife of fifty one years the former Susan K. Zabel whom he married on December 28, 1963 in Visitation Catholic Church. Also left behind to cherish his memories are his son and daughter-in-law; Sean and Jessica Nowak of Bay City, four loving grandchildren; Zachary, Jesse, Joshua and Phoenix, one brother and sister-in-law; Douglas and Anne Zabel of Waldorf, Maryland, two nieces; Sami and Gabi Zabel, his cousins and many special friends. Be sides his parents Adolph and Catherine he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Edward and Ruth Zabel. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Thursday October 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. DeLand with private interment in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
