Diane Smith-Underwood

Diane passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 16, 2022 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 80 years. Diane was born on March 12, 1942 in Bay City to the late Lloyd and Shirley (Nickel) MacDonald. Diane married Orvill Smith and he preceded her in death. Orvill was the owner of Smitty's Auto Parts for many years. Together they retired and moved Florida in 1978 where she continued to work as a housekeeping supervisor. After his death, she married Corky Underwood and eventually moved back to Bay City in 2005 where he later preceded her in death. In her spare time, she loved to play Bingo, go to the casino and cook sweets for her family and friends.
Diane is survived by her children, Bill (Holly) Hadd, Cindy Whaley and Susan (Chet) Barthmaier; sisters, Shirley Ann, Judy and Geri and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Lloyd and Bobby; sisters, Marilyn and Jacqueline and son-in-law, Michael Whaley.
At the request of Diane, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Karen, and the staff at Bay Valley Assisted Living where she has resided this past year.
