Dolores Marie Sheffield

Dolores Sheffield passed away on October 30, 2026 after a brief bout of cancer. She was the daughter of Andrew and Helen (Zoltowski) Strzynski born February 24, 1932 in Gaylord, Michigan.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena (St. Vincent DePaul) since moving to Bay City in 1970. She served the parish as Eucharistic Team Leader, member of Alter Society for over 40 years holding various offices mostly as president, coordinator of funeral lunches, scheduled weekly cleaning of church, and yearly spring cleaning. She spent years on the Art & Environment committee and co-chaired creating over 100 banners for the various church feasts. She established and was the sole member of the Sunshine ministry which sent over 2,700 greeting cards to parishioners.

Dolores loved to cook, preparing many meals for family and friends. She was also an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. Her garden was the envy of the neighborhood. She also loved to play golf, bridge, and other board games.

Dolores is survived by her sisters Mary Ann Welsh and Romain Mankowski, sons Jeffrey A. and Kenneth M. (Cathy) and daughter Kathleen A. as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by husband Leslie B. Sheffield in 1987.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Jim Bessert with private entombment at St. Patrick’s Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, November 6, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.
