Donald J. Balash

Balash, Donald J. "Jim" Bay City, Michigan Mr. Balash passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Bay Regional Medical Center. Age 80 years. The son of the late Theodore and Frances ( Hodouschek) Balash was born November 14, 1929 in Bay City. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mr. Balash retired from Dow Chemical Co. in Midland after thirty two years of service. He enjoyed world travel and keeping in touch with family and friends on the internet. Mr. Balash served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a life member of the Amvets #22. He is survived by his wife Romaine M. (Wachowski) Balash whom he married August 25, 1956. Also surviving are five children; Terry (Dorothy) Balash of Bay City, Donald A. Balash of Pt. St. Lucie , FL, Annette (Robert) Doan of Bay City, Evan (Tracy) Balash of Stuart, FL and Deann (John) Boughton of Montrose, CO, eleven grandchildren; Talina, Heather (John), Andy, Michael, Sarah, Kyle, Eric, Alex, Adam, Sean and Matthew, one great grandson; Jacob Grzegorczyk, one sister; Ann Ouellette of Bay City, two brothers; Edward Balash of Bay City and Henry (Jeanne) Balash of Guthrie Lake. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by four brothers; Fred, Frank, Ted and Albert. The Funeral Liturgy will take place Monday, June 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert S. Gohm with the Rite of Committal follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Balash will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial Cards for Holy Trinity Catholic Church or the Donor's Favorite Charity will be available at the funeral home.
