Donald W. Rapson

Don passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 peacefully at his home at the age of 81. He was born In Bad Axe, Michigan on June 22, 1942 to the late Warren and Cynthia Jean (McIntire) Rapson. He attended Bad Axe Schools until his senior year in 1960 where he graduated from Vassar. After school he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1964. Don was the owner of C&S Jewelers in Bay City, and Vassar from 1971 to 1997, Owned Flying Eagle Coins in Bay City from 1997 to 2019. Don had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. He was an avid Numismatist (Coin Collector), he enjoyed traveling, playing Euchre, playing pool, telling stories, watching movies, going out to eat, learning about Historical events and spending time with his family.

Don is survived by his wife, Carolyn Douglas; ex-wife, Carolyn Rapson; children, Larry (Sheryl) Rapson, Cathy (Jim) Cain, Dewey (Suzanne) Rapson; step children, Christine (Jeremy) Jacobs, Matthew (Naomi) Douglas, Brian (Amy Lou) Douglas; grandchildren, Chase and Cailyn Cain, Chloe, Matthew, Dewey and Samantha Rapson; Jennifer Gamez, Sara Glaspell, Payten and Easton Jacobs; Zepherence, Seth, Hayden, Brendon Gage; Emily, Taylor, Kendra, Connor Douglas; brother, Gary (Bonnie) Rapson; sister, Betty Roth. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Charles Roth.

Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Vassar Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Tony Barber with interment following at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gephart Funeral Home and on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to Vassar Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
