Don passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 at New Hope Bay at the age of 91 years. He was born in Bay City on April 22, 1931 to the late Carl and Gladys (Buckel) Seidel. Don married the former Jacqueline J. Senn on June 20, 1953 and moved to Staten Island, New York where Don was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. Don and Jacqueline were married for 69 years. Don was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, where he served as a former elder and trustee. He graduated from Michigan State College and has remained a huge Spartan fan. Don retired after 43 years of service in the department of corrections as the Bay County Circuit Court Supervisor of probation and parole. Don and his wife spent several years as snowbirds in Mesa, Arizona. He was also a member of the Tri County Carvers Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, camping, wood carving and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; daughter, Holly (Douglas) Hartz; sons, Jeffrey (Teresa) Seidel and David (Amy) Seidel; grandchildren, Dustin Hartz, Kaitlin (Luke) McDaniel, Jacob (Leah) Seidel, Emma Seidel and fiancée Brennan Williams, Nicholas Seidel and Maxwell Seidel; great grandchildren, Jonah and Luna Hartz and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Scott Alan Seidel; sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Jerry Laetz; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Rita Senn

Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Bender with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends and family may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Seidel will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
