Donna M. Hughes

Donna M. Hughes passed away peacefully in Edmond, Oklahoma on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the age of 90. The daughter of the late Fred and Delia (Proulx) Ligney was born December 15, 1935 in Bay City, Michigan. Donna was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish and a lifelong resident of Bay City before moving to Oklahoma five years ago. She graduated from Visitation Catholic School and enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafting. Donna and her husband, Joseph R. Hughes Jr. were married for 59 years before his passing in 2015.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo and son-in-law, Carl Lyn Shepherd of Edmond, OK; son, Joseph R. Hughes III of Washington State; one grandson, Joseph R. Hughes IV; brother-in-law, Eugene “Bud” Leser and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Hughes Jr. and her sister, Sr. Mary Bernita Ligney.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Celebrant will Be Rev. Fr. James Bessert with private entombment following in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at the Gephart Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Donna will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
