Donna Ann Yurgaites

Donna Ann Yurgaites, age 91, passed away at Bayfield Assisted Living on Sunday, August 25, 2024. She was born to Michael and Mary (Kaczmarek) Mieske on November 2, 1932, and grew up in Bay County. She was the youngest daughter of five children and proud to have been a coal miners daughter. Donna graduated from T.L. Handy and then went on to Mercy Central School of Nursing, working as a RN for 36 years and retiring from Bay Regional Medical Center in 1998. Donna was raised with a strong work ethic and enjoyed working with all the dear people who touched her life and became her friends as they shared knowledge and support. She enjoyed gardening and sharing her ample produce, making it all seem so effortless. It was a pleasure that she kept in contact with relatives, neighbors, friends, and classmates via phone conversation on the other end of the line. 

Surviving to cherish her legacy are her two sons, Daniel (Jeanne) Yurgaites of Grand Blanc and Joseph Yurgaites of Auburn. She was the adored grandmother of Allison Jauss and her special friend, Robbie Johnson and Lindsay (Clint) Northrop, along with her two great grandsons, Jack Jauss and Donovan Northrop; great granddaughter, Kate Jauss and nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents Donna was also preceded in death by her grandson, Jeffery Yurgaites; three brothers, Raymond, Marion and Ted; sister, Marge Holsapple; sisters-in-law, Florentine, Monica and Fran and her brother-in-law, Herb Holsapple. Donna will fondly live in our hearts forever. 

At the request of Donna, cremation has taken place. A memorial Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. Gabriel Parish. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Anthonys Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
