Doris J. Bibbee "Herbie"

Doris J. (Herbie) Bibbee passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday March 30, 2022 surrounded by family. Herbie was born May 1, 1929 in Central Station, WV, the daughter of Charles and Bessie Opal (Chipps) Cavins. On March 9, 1946 Herbie married Earl D. Bibbee and they enjoyed over 75 years together, raising their eight children side-by-side.
In November 1959, the family moved to Bay City, MI where Herbie was a deacon and an elder, and active in the Women's Association at Westminster Presbyterian Church for many years. She was also an avid volunteer in her community.
Herbie enjoyed her time with friends at bridge club, vacation club, and the Red Hat Society. Her favorite pastimes included bowling, sewing, baking, canning, playing cards, camping, traveling, and spending time with family, especially the "little ones."
Friends and family will always remember Herbie's giving heart. Everyone was always welcome, and many times the house would smell of fresh baked bread or pies. No one ever left Herbie's house feeling hungry. In recent years, she loved to share stories from her past with her many visitors. Friends were family, and no one was a stranger.
Herbie is survived by her eight children: Charles (Darlene) Bibbee, Bessie Roper, Andrew Bibbee, Mary (Bob) Krieg, Ruth (Michael Martin) Ostrander, Josie (Randy) Gray, Audrey (Brent) Clay, and Phoebe (Gordon) Lutz; 24 grandchildren: Evan Bibbee, Nicole Bibbee, Jimmy Roper, Beschelle Lockhart, Ted Roper, Talia Richardson, Herschey Roper, Keowa Vasquez, Kyre Blair, Matthew Krieg, Audrey Kokidko, Joshua Ostrander, Phoebe Kannisto, Dustin Gray, Taryn Gray, Miranda Gray, Samara Wolf, Alyssa Gilmour, Brenna Dennison, Andrew Clay, Emma Clay, Karissa Lutz, Taylor Lutz, and Quinn Lutz; 59 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving Herbie is one sister, Tommy Evans of Fayetteville, NC; sisters-in-law Heidi Cavins of Elizabeth City, NC, Bonnie Cavins of Salem, WV, and Edith Dunbar of Parkersburg, WV, many nieces and nephews, including her favorite nephew Ted Towner. She is also survived by Barbara Bibbee, Herschel Roper, and John Ostrander.
Herbie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, fifteen siblings, one sister-in-law, Evelyn Jones, one daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Bibbee, and two grandchildren, Tim Baker and Lindsay Ruth Clay.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date. Herbie requested donations be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Deacons or Youth Group, or a charity of your choice. Herbie wanted to express her thanks to all who touched her life.
