Dorothy Mae Martin

Dorothy passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026 with her loving family by her side at the age of 86. She was born on May 11, 1940, to the late Irving and Mertle (Julian) Finkbeiner in Bay City, Michigan.

Dorothy was a lifelong and devoted member of Our Lady of Peace Parish – St. Mary’s Church. She generously gave of her time for many years working in the church pantry, where she found great joy in helping others. Dorothy enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, including bowling, ceramics, knitting, crocheting, stained glass, and shopping. Most importantly, she treasured her family and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. Her love, kindness, and devotion to those she held dear will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her children, Todd (Tracy) Martin, Troy (Monica) Martin, Tracey (Amy) Martin, and Tina Walraven; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; special niece and nephew, Debbie Finkbeiner and Jim Luzark; sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Nancy Finkbeiner, along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Vassar Comfort Care for the compassion and care that they gave to Dorothy.

A Funeral Liturgy will take place on at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Our Lady of Peace Parish. Private entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a contribution to the pantry at Our Lady of Peace Parish.
