Dorothy passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at New Hope Bay Assisted Living at the age of 97 years. She was born in Bay City on February 1, 1924 to the late Frank and Sophie (Lemiasz) Slezak. On June 22, 1946 she married the love of her life Joseph A. Tithof. They spent 62 years together until he passed away on December 11, 2008. Dorothy was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish - St. John's Church and the P.L.A.V. She worked for ten years for Servamation and always kept busy every day. Dorothy lived a long well lived life and was always independent and strong. She was determined to fight thru hardship and pain and was always the rock in the family. Dorothy loved to play BINGO, cards, golf and poker which she relearned to play in her 90's. Most of all she loved spending time and being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They always brought a smile and glow to her face when they came to see her.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carol (Rodger) Roszatycki; son-in-law, Carl "Bud" Rau; grandchildren, Bradley Rau, Janelle (Matt) Rau-Clauson, Corrie (Scott) Elsbrie, Ann Marie (Benjamin) Gurnee; great grandchildren, Grace, Lillian, Connor, Beatrix, Zachary, Isabelle, Russell, Vincent and Margaret and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Rau; brother, Telesfor Slezak; sisters, Irene Dansereau, Romaine Birch and Jeanette Simon.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021 at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Dale A. Orlik with Rite of Committal following in St. Patrick Cemetery. Friends may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Mrs. Tithof will be taken to the church to lie in state on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Thaddeus Parish.
