Duane Richard Moore

Duane passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 72. He was born on August 1, 1953 to the late Donald and Janice (Dean) Moore in Sandusky, Michigan.

In his earlier years, he found joy as a member of a band, where his passion for music and his warm, easygoing spirit connected him to countless people. As the years passed, his love for the outdoors became a defining part of who he was. A devoted archery hunter, he spent many seasons immersed in the quiet beauty of the woods. He was a proud and active member of the Tuscola County Archery Club, where he formed lifelong friendships and gave generously of his time and enthusiasm. He also cherished the simple joys of life—camping, fishing, and hitting the open road on his motorcycle.

Duane is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marsha (Ball); daughters, Tracy (Nick) Messing and Terri Hamp; 4 grandsons, Riley Messing, Grant Hamp, Westin Hamp and Jett Hamp; sister, Brenda (Rick) Blackmer; sister-in-law, Diane Kern and two nephews, Russ Kern and Tommy Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Millard and Betty Ball; brother-in-law’s, Thomas Burns and James Kern and niece, Bonnie Ball.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the entire staff at the Munson Hospital in Traverse City and the Bangor Township Emergency services for all their help.

In honoring the wishes of Duane, cremation has taken place and no services are being planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made in Duane’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
