Earl Guntermann passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Carriage House Nursing Home. Age 91 years. He was born on February 12, 1924 in Bay City to Conrad and Agnes Guntermann. On April 4, 1970 he married Helen Touroo who preceded him in death in 1991. Earl was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church where he served on the finance committee, sang in the choir and was an usher. Earl was retired from Prestolite Corporation, Local #526. Earl is survived by his niece and her husband, Don and Darlene Pfannes and his stepdaughter, Judith Shorkey. Also surviving are great nieces and a great nephew, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, close cousins and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Earl is preceded in death by his brothers, Oscar and Clarence, brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Dorothy Guntermann, sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Ben Nutt. The family would like to thank the Carriage House Nursing staff for the kindness and compassion shown to Earl. Funeral Services will take place Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schweppe with interment following in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Earl will be taken to the church on Thursday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
