Edmund Jay Baranek of Bay City, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, at the age of 89 with his family by his side. He was born on December 15, 1936, in Bay City, Michigan son of the late Edmund John Baranek and Elaine Margaret (Lipan) Baranek. He married the love of his life Patricia Ann Wilson on November 26, 1960. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2014.
He was a lifelong member of Corpus Christie Parish formerly Holy Trinity. Active member Knights of Columbus Council 414. Proud member of IEW Local 692 for over 69 years retired Electrician. He received a certificate of appreciation from Bay City, Michigan for his service as a Crossing Guard for over 15 years of service. He had a strong passion and found peace and joy in growing a big, beautiful garden which he shared his vegetables with everyone. He loved planting flowers. Rarely seen dad without a Grizz Dip in his lip, loved his Whiskey and Waters and no one could beat him at his Atari or Nintendo Games which he was an undisputed champion. Absolutely loved watching his TV entertainment WWE. He was very known for his no-nonsense unfiltered sense of humor and pushing the envelope to embarrass you in public for the laugh. He loved being a Grandpa, Papa Jay and Great Grandpa to his grandkids.

Grandkids Brittany (Nick Carter) Baranek, Elizabeth (Aaron) Bowman, Anthony Flood, John Lynk Jr. and Grayson Lynk. Great Grandkids Mack Carter, Dane Carter, Charlie Bowan and Alexandria Bowman.
