Edward passed away early Monday morning, May 7, 2018 at Plainview Assisted Living at the age of 94. Edward was born in Bay City on August 23, 1923 to the late Edward and Delma (Willette) Packard. Edward was a parishioner at St. Gabriel Parish for many years. Edward married the former Mary June Girou on March 15, 1946 and she preceded him in death in 2007. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He enjoyed having a paper route and serving as a life guard. Edward retired from Dow Chemical where he worked as a machinist and foreman. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and boating.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Paul) Niemiec; son, Richard (Averill) Packard; grandchildren, John (Jennifer), Joseph (Lee Ann) and Jerud (Nicole) Niemiec, Tinelle (Tim) Zigila and Caleb (Tracy) Packard; twenty two great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert Howell.
Per Edward's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Thomas E. Sutton. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the celebration.
