Elfriede K. (Kolm) Nitschmann

Elfriede K. (Kolm) Nitschmann passed away on November 16, 2025 at Story Point Senior Living with her family by her side. She was born April 23, 1937 in West Prussia, Germany to the late Karl and Natalie Kolm (Gahr). Elfriede was best known as a kind, warm hearted person, strong in her faith and she loved the traditional Lutheran hymns. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She worked at Great Lakes Fabrics for 60+ years as a loyal book keeper. Described by coworkers as dedicated and “just a lovely person”. She was great with numbers, intelligent, did not seek attention, she quietly observed, thoughtfully chose her words before speaking and always had a smile on her face.

Elfriede is preceded in death by her husband, Manfred Nitschmann; brothers, Ludwig, and Richard; Sister, Mathilde (Lindner), Brothers and Sister in Laws and Grandson, Alex Moritz. She is survived by daughter, Heidi Moritz (Don) and son, Rudi Nitschmann (Kelly) and Grandchildren Justin Moritz (Maria), Brady Nitschmann (Abigail), Natalie Nitschmann (fiancé Joshua Logan), Lauren Medley (Andrew), Great Grandchildren Camille and Jackson Moritz, brother Henry Kolm, sisters Brigitte Polack (Duane) and Johanna Van Mullekom.

For the past year she resided at Story Point Senior Living, previously Randall Residence in Tipp City, OH. She quickly became known by all as a quiet, kind person referred to by many as a sweetheart. The family is grateful for all the love, care and support provided by the residence, caretakers and nurses.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Gephart Funeral Home with interment following at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Gephart Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
