Mr. Eliazar Leal, of Bay City, passed away early Friday morning, April 11, 2014, surrounded by the love of his family at the Sanders A.F.C., age 66. The son of the late Gildardo & Maria Lilia (Marroquin) Leal, he was born on September 14, 1947 in Edinburg, Texas. Eliazar served in the U.S. Army for 27 years, retiring as Sergeant First Class. Among his many decorations and awards, while serving in Vietnam he was awarded the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Bronze Star Medal. Following his retirement from the military, Eliazar worked locally first at American Hoist and then at Thompson Ball & Screw. He was a proud, religious man and was a much loved father, father-in-law, grandfather and brother.
Eliazar's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of both Sanders A.F.C. and Grace Hospice for the special care and love he received.
The Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Chaplain Gloria Hart and interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bay County Veterans Council. www.gephartfuneralhome.com
