Emily (Schmidt) Manning

Mrs. Manning passed away early Tuesday morning April 20, 2010 at her home with her family by her side, age 96. The daughter of the late Fred & Elizabeth (Freisorger) Schmidt, she was born June 1, 1913 in Bay City. Emily was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was also a member of Prestolite 426 Retirees. On June 1, 1940 she married Gilbert Evans Manning and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2003. Mrs. Manning is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Linn (Ervin) Haines of Midland and Nancy Ann (Jim) McDowell of Altadena, CA; five grandchildren, Dawn (Randy) Wilkie of Hope, Beth (Paul) Schultz of Midland, DeAnna (David) Shepherd of West Brookfield, MA, Deborah (Jeff) McLean of Kingston, MA and Denise (Craig) Murray of Largo, FL; nine great-grandchildren, Adam Schultz, Isaac Anthony Schultz and Samantha Schultz all of Midland, Nicole Wilkie and Anthony Frank Wilkie III both of Hope, Jake McLean and Ava Rose McLean both of Kingston, MA, Darion Shepherd and Derrick Shepherd both of West Brookfield, MA; and many nieces & nephews. Emily was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Fred Schmidt and Walter Schmidt. The funeral service will take place at 1:00pm on Friday April 23, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church, 510 W. Ivy St. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt. Private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 & 6:00 to 8:00pm. Mrs. Manning will lie instate at the church on Friday from 12:00pm until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Educational Trust Fund in honor of Mrs. Diane Eichinger.
