Mr. Emmett Howard Lowe "Jim", of Bay City, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday morning, April 6, 2016 at his residence, age 72. The son of the late Howard J. and Vedah (Good) Lowe, he was born on December 28, 1943 in Bay City. Emmett served his country in the U.S. Army. He was the owner of Lowe Construction for many years, specializing in residential construction. Emmett attended Cornerstone Baptist Church and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter.
On February 17, 1968 Emmett married the former Joyce A. Grove and she survives his passing along with their four children, Lisa (Greg) Curtis, Bobbie (Greg) Preston and James (Heather) Lowe all of Bay City and Jamie (Scott) Schwerin of Kawkawlin; seven grandchildren, Ashleigh Curtis, Megan (Brandon) Knopp, Jaymes (Stephanie) Lowe, Dakota Lowe, Anthony Schwerin, Nicole Lowe and Savanna Preston; five great-grandchildren, Jakob, Kendyl, Kamryn, Adalae and Rhylee; a sister, Lucille Jane (Howard) Dockett, many brothers and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Terry and Teresa Loree. Besides his parents, Emmett was also preceded in death by two brothers, Cleo Lowe and Laverine Lowe; and three sisters, Louise Aikens, Alvina Church and Leona Aikens.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Cornerstone Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Joshua N. Rager followed by Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army and the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
