Eugene L. Goss, 93, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Midland Hospital with his family by his side. Born March 26, 1930, in Kawkawlin, Michigan to the late Raymond and Irene (Mosher) Goss. Eugene served in the U.S. Airforce and was stationed in Japan after World War II. He was a registered land surveyor for over 40 years and retired from the Bay County Drain Commission. Eugene was a proud veteran, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, farming and gardening, playing Euchre, music and singing, boating, swimming, water-skiing, watching Judge Judy, socializing and spending time with his family and those he loved. He had a passion for conservation, the outdoors, and animals, especially dogs. In his 93 years, Eugene shared his endless well of happiness, resilience and positivity with friends and family. Whatever the adversity before him, Eugene would smile and say “it’s a great ole world.”
Eugene is survived by his sons, Mark (Karen) Goss, Bruce (Kathy) Goss and Steve Goss; daughter, Laurie King (Goss); grandchildren, Kari Kosemba, Brian Goss, Jordan (Kayli) Goss, Jonathan Goss, Aubree (Kyle) Smith (Goss), and Leslie Lewis; great grandchildren, Austin, Nadia, Daniel, Nora, Russell, Cohen, Isla and Sienna; one great-great grandson, Andrew Filcek; and grand dog, Frankie. In addition to his parents, Eugene is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lauretta M. Goss; grandson, Landen G. Lewis; and siblings, Floyd Goss who passed away during WWII, Robert Goss, Helen Nitschke and Vivian Taylor.
At the request of Eugene, cremation has taken place and a memorial service with military honors will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Gephart Funeral Home. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent directly to the funeral home and contributions may be considered to wishes of the family.
