Evelyn J. Lawrence

Evelyn passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 91. The daughter of the late Reni and Bertha (DeClark) Verhaeghe was born July 20, 1932 in Bay City, Michigan. Evelyn was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish and was retired from Sebewaing Industries. She was a big supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino.

Evelyn is survived by her nine children, Joann Schnettler, Karen Lawrence, Jerry (Judy) Lawrence, Sharon (Keith) Horton, Ron Lawrence, Cindy (Michael) Willett, Kurt (Anice) Lawrence, Randy Lawrence and Tammy (Scott) Taporski; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and one sister, Marilyn Verhaeghe. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Karl Lawrence.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Evelyn will be taken to the church to lie in state on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial cards for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital will be available at the funeral home.
