Francis Edmund Bessette

Francis Bessette, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on July 26, 2026.

Born on January 21, 1935, in Hartford, Connecticut, Francis went on to proudly serve his country as a veteran in the United States Army. Following his military service, he settled in Michigan, where he spent many dedicated years working at Bay City Chevrolet until his retirement.

Francis was reunited in passing with his beloved wife of 63 years, Christa, who preceded him in death in 2025. He was also predeceased by his brothers Thomas and John (who were lost during WWIl), Ernest, and Maurice; his sister, Bernice; and his great-grandson, Archer Lapan.

He is survived by his daughters, Heidi Bessette and Rosie (Mark) Jacobs; his grandchildren, Andrea Behrmann (Blair Lapan), Barry Smith (Brittney Levy), and Halie (Austin) Jobes; and his great-grandchildren, Piper, Pippa, and Wren Behrmann, Jayden Dietlein, Laylah Jordan, Brantley Jobes, and Jules Smith.

Though Francis playfully requested a traditional Viking funeral on the Kawkawlin River, the family will honor his memory with a slightly more conventional, private celebration of his life. Together, Francis and Christa will be laid to rest as their ashes are released side-by-side, reunited once more.
