Gary Paul Baranek

Gary passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 9, 2026 at the Carriage House Nursing Home at the age of 87. He was born to the late Edmund and Elaine (LaPan) Baranek on June 29, 1938 in Bay City. He was member of Corpus Christi Parish and the Knights of Columbus. He was a proud United States Army Veteran. Gary started his career as an electrician for Spark Electric and later retired from General Motors. He loved his dogs, playing guitar, pickle ball, blooper ball and even enjoyed cutting his grass.

Gary is survived by his children, Christina (Bill) Girtman, Gary (Karla) Baranek, Anthony (Stephanie) Baranek, Antoinette Baranek, Tina Baranek and Paulette (Joel) Krauss; grandchildren, Adam Klemm, Morgan Baranek, Carter and Charlie Callahan, Jachob Johnson, Tyler Jackson, Johnson Krauss and Joslyn LaVanway and special friend, Paula Rice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Baranek; children, Kirk Baranek and Patty Ann Baranek and brother, Jay (Pat) Baranek.

Funeral Mass with take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish with Military Honors immediately following and interment at Calvary Cemetery. Officiating Mass with be Rev. Fr. Rick Filary. The family will be present to receive visitors at Gephart Funeral Home on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. On Friday at the funeral home the Knights of Columbus will be doing a Bible Presentation at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Gary’s name to the Bay County Humane Society.
