Gary W. Fox

Gary passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Bay County Medical Care Facility at the age of 79. The son of the late Joseph and Irene (Jones) Fox was born September 20, 1945 in Highland Park, Michigan. Gary was retired from the Bay City Fire Department as a Captain after 29 years of service and served on the Local 1435 as an officer for 15 years. He was also a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church where he served as Junior Warden, usher and enjoyed working the bingo. Gary also loved working on computers and volunteering for the Red Cross, Disability Services and the United Way.

Gary is survived by his wife, the former Pauline Anderson, whom he married on July 12, 1969 at Holy Family Episcopal Church in Midland; two daughters, Shelly (Michael) Christian and Debbie Fox; two grandsons, James Christian and Kenny Sweet; one sister, Donna Granzow; brothers and sister-in-law, Ken (Judy) Anderson and Mike Anderson; two nieces, Tania (Rod) Bell and Tracy Anderson; nephews, Jay (Rose) Anderson, Kyle (Erin) Anderson and Ryan (Heidi) Anderson and many other cousins, friends and co-workers. In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Lachcik; brother, Donald Fox; brother-in-law, Klaus Granzow; father and mother-in-law, Ken and Jessie Anderson; niece, Shannon Fisher and many brothers on the fire department.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Bay County Medical Care Facility and McLaren Bay Region for their compassion and care that they gave to Gary.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. Officiating will be The Rev. Nancy Mayhew with inurnment following in St. Alban’s Church Columbarium. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at the Gephart Funeral Home from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
