George J. LaCourt

George passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at the age of 78 years. George was born on December 16, 1942 in Bay City to the late Wesley and Eleanor (Koenigs) LaCourt. He married the former Elaine Witek on August 2, 1969 and she passed away on September 12, 2017. George worked for Defoe Shipbuilding Company for nine years and retired from Bay City Chevrolet in 2002 after thirty years. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, ice skating and water skiing with his grandchildren.
George is survived by his son, Jim (Linda) LaCourt; daughter, Kathy (Mike) Sobczyk; grandchildren, Vance and Owen LaCourt and Kaiden and Braylon Sobczyk; companion, Garlyn "Gar" Fickies; sister, Isabelle (Mike) Tiglio and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, John and Richard LaCourt.
