He was born to the late Oscar and Eleanor (Nuffer) Gehringer on July 7, 1929 in Bay County, Michigan. He was a devoted member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Amelith and was very active in the church community. Early in life, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was baptized on July 28, 1929 and confirmed on April 18, 1943. Gordon was a man of strong faith, witnessing for Jesus Christ until his very last breath. He had an immense love for his wife, his family, and most importantly, his Lord.
Gordon was very proud to be a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He retired as a IBEW Local 692 electrician before going on to own and operate Gehringer Orchard, where he worked side by side with his wife each day. Their bond was inseparable and he is now reunited with his bride of 71 years, Geraldine Gehringer. As a family, they enjoyed camping and traveling together creating many memories. In retirement, he developed a remarkable talent for woodworking and cabinetmaking, leaving behind work that will be appreciated and cherished for years to come.
