Hawley P. Alcorn

Hawley passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side on Saturday April 30, 2022 at the age of 80. He was born in Bay City, Michigan to the late Hawley M. and Gladys I. (Penhale) Alcorn on June 26, 1941. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for over 50 years and sang in the choir for many of those years as well. Hawley enjoyed working with the confirmands at Church and was also a Sunday school teacher. He was involved with the Boy scouts and Big brother and Big Sisters Organization for many years. He was also involved with the Saginaw Valley Saginaw Naval Ship Museum and the American Legion Local Post 18 for a couple of years. He is a retired GM worker of 30 years. He was an Army Veteran and served his country from the years 1964 to 1967. Hawley loved his music, especially playing the piano and drawing so many different things.
Hawley is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Mercier) Alcorn, whom he married on July 27, 1968 and they have spent over 53 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his son, Marc J. Alcorn and his fiancé, Brandy Leonard and his daughter, Jennifer J. (Matthew) Gwizdala; sister, Mary Louise Buzzard; brother, Ivor C. (Nancy) Alcorn; brother-in-law, William S. (Priscilla) Mercier and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Lloyd Buzzard and Robert C. Mercier.
Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Bay City, with military honors following. A private interment will be taking place at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Phillip Bearwolf. The family will be present to receive visitors at the Gephart Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wishes of the Family.
