Helen R. Wenzloff, of Bay City, formerly of Frankenmuth, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region, age 89. The daughter of the late Carl & Alma (Lutz) Schultz, she was born March 11, 1924 in Bay City. On December 31, 1950 Helen married Eugene J. Wenzloff at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bay City. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2000. Helen is survived by her son, Paul E. (Kam) Wenzloff of Bay City; daughter, Nancy J. (James) Lewis of Rochester Hills, MI; son, Warren P. Wenzloff (Elizabeth Gooch) of River Forest, IL; and her grandchildren, Karl L. (Ayesha) Wenzloff, Aaron P. (Allison) Wenzloff, Jamie H. Lewis, Spencer H. and Allison J. Wenzloff. Helen is also survived by her step-children, Sandra (Larry) Kennedy of Bingham Farms, MI, Carolyn (Jack) Wallace of Ann Arbor and James (Jean) Wenzloff of Fort Gratiot, MI; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her brother, Harold (Bernice) Schultz of Bay City. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Matilda Brown and Arlene Metevia; and two brothers, Melvin Schultz and Raymond Schultz. Helen lived in Frankenmuth from 1950 until 2000. She was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church where she was active in the Altar Guild and Ladies Aid. Helen moved back to Bay City in 2000 and lived at Appletree Farms. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bay City. Helen enjoyed baking and sewing and was a voracious reader. She traveled extensively, having visited every state in the United States as well as parts of Europe and Asia. Helen cherished her time with friends and family, and especially with her grandchildren. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 510 W. Ivy St., Bay City. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt. Private interment will be in St. Lorenz Cemetery in Frankenmuth. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Wenzloff will lie instate at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
