Helen passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her residence. Age 90 years. The daughter of the late Gustave and Meta (Kussrow) Wyneken was born July 29, 1926 in Bay City, MI. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the University Of Michigan Alumni Club Of Bay City and the Bay Area Retired School Personnel. Helen graduated from Bay City Central High School and Junior College and went on to receive her B.A. and M.A. from the University of Michigan. She worked for the Bay City Public Schools as an English Teacher, Counselor and Dean of Students at Central High School. She retired after 37 years of service. Left behind to cherish her memories is one sister; Mildred Nuffer; two brothers-in-law; Armand Blackmore and Homer Wickman and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law; Anita and Clarence Bernreuter, Cordula and Arnold Meyer, Wilma Blackmore, Edna Wickman , James Nuffer and Warren A. Nuffer. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul G. Kruse with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Helen will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Zion Lutheran Church, Zion Lutheran School Scholarship Fund or Friends of Wyneken.
