Herbert W. Pake

Herbert passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Bayfield Assisted Living at the age of 97 years. He was born in Bay City on November 17, 1924 to the late Arthur and Jeannie (Kerr) Pake. Herbert proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps as a Corporal during World War II. He retired from the Bay City fire department on July 27, 1980 as a Lieutenant. Herbert was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for many years, the DAV and the firefighter's union. On April 12, 1947 he married the former Mabel Vernon and she preceded him in death on July 6, 1989. He then married Genevieve on August 25, 1990 and she passed away on February 1, 2022.
Herbert is survived by his brother, James Pake; sister, Barbara Pake Miller; niece and care giver, Janet (William) Belen and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wives, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur (Edith) Pake, Matthew (Margaret) Pake and Larry (Gerry) Pake; sisters, Lillian (Arthur) Pfundt, Naomi Pake and Kathleen (Robert) Britton; sister-in-law, Phyllis Pake and brother-in-law, William R. Miller Jr.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Gary Bender with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends and family may visit at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
